Packing services for local and long-distance moves
Packing takes longer than most people expect, and careful packing is the best protection against breakage. Our crews can pack your whole home, just the rooms you dread, or only the fragile things, and you can add packing to any local move or long-distance move.
Packing options
- Full packing. We pack the whole home so you can keep working, look after the kids or finish the paperwork.
- Partial packing. You pack the easy rooms; we pack the kitchen, the china cabinet, the garage, or whatever you choose.
- Fragile and high-value items only. Glassware, dishes, electronics, artwork, mirrors and heirlooms.
- Unpacking. At the new home we can unpack boxes so you are not living out of them for weeks.
- Office packing. Computers, printers, files and desks for a business move. See commercial moving.
How we pack
- Glassware, electronics, artwork and heirlooms get padding and wrap before they go in a box.
- Furniture is wrapped in moving blankets and shrink wrap; mattresses go in mattress covers.
- Boxes are labeled with what is inside and the room they go to, so unloading and unpacking go faster.
- Point out anything fragile, valuable or sentimental during your estimate, and the crew plans for it.
Full or partial: how to choose
Full packing makes the most sense when you are short on time, moving a large home, or going long distance, where boxes ride further and get stacked higher. Partial packing works well if you are happy to box up books, clothes and linens yourself but want help with the kitchen and anything breakable, which are the slowest rooms to pack well.
Not sure? Tell us which rooms you want packed when you ask for a quote and we include it. On long-distance and in-state moves your flat-price written estimate is binding once you accept it; it only changes if you add services, such as more packing, later.
Packing yourself? A few tips
- Heavy things such as books go in small boxes; light, bulky things in large ones.
- Fill empty space with paper or towels so nothing shifts, and tape the bottom as well as the top.
- Label each box on two sides with the room and a short list of contents.
- Pack an essentials box (medications, documents, chargers, a change of clothes) and keep it with you.
- Do not pack flammables, hazardous chemicals, weapons, live plants or perishable food: we cannot move them.
