Long-distance movers from East Tennessee
Moving from East Tennessee to another state is a different job from a move across town. The truck is on the road for days, your things are stacked higher and travel further, and you need a delivery date you can plan around. Mitchell Moving handles long-distance and interstate moves from Sevierville, Knoxville and everywhere in between with our own crews and our own trucks, and the same crew that loads your home delivers it.
Recent long-distance moves have taken customers to North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Ohio, Alabama and Connecticut. Moving somewhere else? Call (865) 387-1763 and ask.
How a long-distance move works with us
- Quote. Call (865) 387-1763 or send the form. We can also come out for a free in-home walk-through.
- Plan. We confirm dates, inventory and access at both ends.
- Pack and load. Our crew packs (optional) and loads.
- Delivery. The same crew and truck that load your home deliver it. We confirm your delivery date with you when you book.
How long-distance estimates work
Your estimate is based on your inventory, the distance and access at both homes, which is why we prefer an in-home walk-through for long-distance moves. You get a flat-price written estimate. Once you accept it, it is binding: the price does not change unless you add services such as packing. We do not take a deposit; you pay when the crew has finished unloading.

What is included
- Our own truck and an in-house, background-checked crew, sized to the move. No subcontractors and no handing your things to another carrier.
- Furniture wrapped in moving blankets and shrink wrap, mattress covers, and beds and furniture taken apart and put back together.
- The same crew and truck from loading to delivery, with your delivery date confirmed when you book.
- Optional full or partial packing, including fragile items, and unpacking at the new home.
- Basic released-value protection, as federal rules require for interstate moves. Ask about full-value protection when you get your estimate.

Planning a long-distance move
- Book early. About 4–6 weeks ahead is best, more in summer. Changing your date costs nothing.
- Get a walk-through. We prefer to see the home for long-distance moves, so the written estimate matches what is actually moving.
- Sort before you pack. Everything you sell, donate or haul away is something you do not move. We also offer junk removal.
- Know what cannot go. Flammables, hazardous chemicals, weapons, live plants and perishable food cannot go on the truck.
- Think about access at the new home. Tell us about stairs, elevators, parking, HOA rules or a long driveway at the destination.
- Use the checklist. Our moving checklist covers the weeks before moving day.
