Loading and unloading help, without the truck

Renting your own truck or using a portable container? Book our movers for the heavy part. You bring the truck, the trailer or the container. Our crew loads it, unloads it, or both. It's a good fit for do-it-yourself moves, container moves to another state, and getting things in or out of storage.

What we load and unload

• Rental trucks you've picked up for your move.
• PODS and other portable moving containers, at either end of the move.
• Storage units, including climate-controlled units.
• Furniture inside your home, like moving heavy pieces between rooms or floors. See furniture moving.

When labor-only makes sense

Labor-only is the right call when you want to drive yourself, or when the container company is handling the road and you just need the loading done right. A few times folks call us for it:

• Container moves out of state. The container company hauls it. We pack it tight on this end, or unload it when it lands.
• Storage in between homes. You sold before you bought, or you're building. We load the unit now and unload it into the new place later.
• Family and friends are driving. You've got the truck and the drivers. You'd just rather not carry the sleeper sofa down the stairs.
• Only one end needs help. Load it yourself and have us unload, or the other way around.

How labor-only moving works

1. Tell us the job. Call (865) 387-1763 or send the quote form. Tell us what's moving, the size of the truck or container, where it'll be parked, and the stairs at the house.
2. We send a crew sized to it. Two or more of our own movers, with dollies, straps and moving pads.
3. Loading. Furniture gets padded. The load is packed tight and stacked so it doesn't shift on the road.
4. Unloading. At the other end, furniture and boxes go into the rooms you choose.

You pay when the work is done. No deposit.

Loading tips for a truck or container

• Have boxes packed, taped and labeled before the crew gets there, so their time goes into loading.
• Clear a path from the door to the truck, and save a parking spot as close as you can.
• Dressers going up or down a big staircase? Empty them first. If there are no stairs or only a few, you can leave things in the drawers.
• Keep valuables, documents and medications with you, not in the truck.
• Truck and container rentals have their own rules on weight and what they can carry. Check them before moving day.

Labor only, or a full move?

Labor only makes sense when you want to drive yourself or have a container delivered. If you'd rather not deal with a rental at all, our local moving and long-distance moving services include our own truck and driver, and on a long-distance move the same crew that loads your home delivers it.
