Knoxville apartment moves
Knoxville apartment moves come in every shape. An old house split into apartments in Fort Sanders. A new high-rise on the Strip with a loading dock and an elevator you have to book. A downtown loft with no parking out front. A garden complex off Cedar Bluff with three flights and no elevator. We move them all with our own background-checked crews, and we plan for the building before we show up.
Near campus: Fort Sanders and the Strip
Fort Sanders, right next to the University of Tennessee, is full of older houses divided into apartments. That usually means narrow stairs, tight turns and permit-only street parking. Along Cumberland Avenue, the newer student high-rises have loading areas and elevators, but you'll need to reserve them, and so will everyone else moving that week. Ask your building for its move-in rules early.
Downtown and the Old City
Lofts and condos downtown and in the Old City are often in older buildings, with freight elevators, tight hallways and little or no curb space. Some buildings want a certificate of insurance before the crew can come in. Send us the requirements and we can usually get it to them the same day.
West Knox and suburban complexes
Out west and north, most complexes are garden-style buildings with outdoor stairs and no elevator. Plenty of these buildings are three stories with no elevator. Tell us the floor and how far the parking is from your door so we send the right size crew. More on the west side: West Knoxville movers.
Timing around UT
- Move-in and move-out weeks. When students arrive in August and leave in May, campus streets and building elevators are booked solid. Book as early as you can.
- Game days. On home football Saturdays the streets around Neyland Stadium and the Strip fill up fast. Pick another day if you can.
- End of the month. Many leases turn over at month's end. About 4 to 6 weeks' notice is best.
Small apartment, small crew
A studio or one-bedroom usually needs a crew of two and one truck. Furniture still gets blankets and shrink wrap, beds come apart and go back together, and everything lands where you want it. Not taking the old couch? We can haul it away.
